Kentucky Fried Chicken (2)

His early restaurant..
Harland, very determined once said "no amount of labour, hours, nor money would deter me from giving, the best that's  in me...."

Fried chicken might not have been a new concept, but, He proved that not all successful business ideas need to be new to thrive...
What he did to stand out, was coming up with his own original recipe of different herbs and seasoning which gave ‎a new twist to one of nation's favourite food. He claimed that the 11 herbs and spices he used 'stand on everybody's shelf',ensuring the chicken had that home -cooked feel.
He hand mixed‎ the spices in his early days like mixing cement on a specially cleaned concrete floor on his back porch in Corbin.

He kept being innovative and then developed a method of pressure -frying the chicken so it could be cooked much faster than using traditional frying methods..

In the years that followed,a series of events were out of Harland 's hands .......‎
Fire destroyed his first building, but he rebuilt and reopened the restaurant
He then became an early pioneer of franchising model,he travelled from town to town, cooking batches of his fried chicken for other restaurant owners and employees.

Sales were slow, but his dogged perseverance‎ paid off
His first franchise operation(Kentucky Fried Chicken Franchise) was with Pete Harman of Salt Lake city.‎
The deal's payment was a stipulated payment of five cents‎ to Harland  per each chicken sold.
With rising challenges on transportation, at that time.,they proved too big a hurdle for Harland to overcome, so he was forced to sell the business and try his luck somewhere else. Then it was at this point that plans for a KFC franchise gathered momentum...

Lessons learnt :

  • He was very determined to pay the price to see the business move from a level to another.

  • He ‎innovated a way to fry chicken. Sometimes a simple innovation is all you need to transform where you are now to where you should be. Think Hard!!!

  • He faced challenges, but he was also tough and that brought about a new focus on his business-Franchise!!!. So,no amount of challenges or negativity should put you down. Get thinking, use your mind and find other ways to sell your products or whatever you do.‎

  • He knew who he was and what he had. He knew he could produce that same success all over again, he had no fear selling off his business when he did. You see, this is what Success is about.

If you were left in a desert to start up the business you do right now, would you still be able to make a success out of it??Think about this and check, if your answer is NO,then you have to pay more attention and acquire the skills you can. LEARN and be good at what you do ‎.The world needs more of that!

It's a beautiful day and week ahead.
I am very sure something exceptional is in it for you.
Stay Focused!
**Cheers
